Resources Department and the Marin County Department of Public Works are announcing a recruitment for the position of Stationary Engineer. There is one full-time vacancy available.
This position is responsible for the maintenance & repair of a large variety of equipment used in industrial plants & facilities and may provide work direction to staff on an assignment basis. Amongst other assignments, this position is expected to maintain & repair flood control & sewage pump stations, flood control pumps, natural gas and diesel generators & air conditioning systems. The ideal
candidate has knowledge in & exper. performing routine building operations & maintenance, inclg. plumbing, electrical, construction & HVAC, & is capable of independently repairing and maintaining a wide variety of air conditioning systems. The candidate has exp. leading staff
on assignments, is effective
in maintaining good public relations, dealing effectively with individuals of various ages & backgrounds, uses sound independent judgment within established procedural guidelines, & is knowledgeable regarding the safe operation of hand & power tools used in facility & equipment maintenance & repair.
In addition, the candidate is
capable of working independently for extended periods of time in remote locations, outdoors in any weather conditions & can work non-standard schedules, including evenings, nights and weekends.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Typically, equivalent to four years of recent full-time progressively responsible experience in building maintenance/mechanical work and operation or in a related trade or craft which demonstrates possession of the knowledge and ability requirements listed in the class specification.
Possession of a "universal" EPA refrigerant certificate at time of application. The duties for this position may require travel to various locations within the County to fulfill the job responsibilities. When driving on County business, maintenance of a valid California driver's license & a satisfactory driving record is required.
